Background

Recognized and respected as a Head Football Coach at the Collegiate level, an Offensive innovator, program turnaround artist and the creator of the Triple Gun Offense, Coach DeMeo has published numerous books, courses and DVDs. A popular speaker and clinician for many years, he continues to consult with coaches at the High School and College levels, and conducts Triple Gun team camps each year.

Coach DeMeo also continues to write books. His Little Things that Win Big Games - released in a Paperback edition in August 2025 is a compilation of articles, book reviews, interviews and more.  Little Things that Win Big Games  and the eBook version of his classic, "The Grass Isn't Greener; It's Only Astro-turf" complement his many Option focused books that remain popular to the this day.

Perhaps the most notable of his recent book releases - at least for those interested in Option football X's and O's, is Tony DeMeo's Triple Gun Offense: An Evolution of Option Football . Released in 2024 in both Digital and Paperback versions, Tony DeMeo's Triple Gun Offense: An Evolution of Option Football  is considered by Coach DeMeo to be "the best thing he's ever done".  Here are just a few of the many positive comments about his "Evolution" book:

"An excellent and complete comprehensive work and history of option football" - David Bonchi

"The GOAT" - Andy Friedlander

" Excellent book from an excellent coach! I was fortunate enough to work for Coach DeMeo. Fantastic person, leader and coach !" - Billy BD Kennedy

"Outstanding" - Michael Laubhan

As one might expect, Tony DeMeo's Triple Gun Offense: An Evolution of Option Football traces the parallel paths of Option football, his football coaching career and the development of his Triple Gun Offense. Giving credit for the many "influences"  that shaped what is today's Triple Gun Offense, the book also included is what is, in effect, a Triple Gun Playbook - with video, as is illustrated in this video preview.  Option Central collaborated with Coach DeMeo as he finalized and prepared these 3 recent self-published books for distribution on Amazon.

Coach DeMeo's 2015 release of Commonsense Rules for Everyday Leaders focused on the role of leader that we all play at different points in our lives. The book contains tips for entrepreneurs, managers, parents, government leaders, coaches, and anyone else who finds themselves in a position to lead.

In his 25 years of experience as a head college football coach, Tony DeMeo built a reputation for turning around college programs, and had an overall record of 137-108-4. DeMeo's 2009 team achieved a Top 20 national ranking in the AFCA poll and led the nation in a number of offensive categories, including scoring (7th seventh in the nation), pass efficiency (1st), rushing (4th), red zone offense (7th).

Tony DeMeo's career included successful head coaching stints at other schools, including Washburn University (KS) and Mercyhurst College, where he started the football program in 1981 and produced a 41-21-2 record over seven years. He also served as the Offensive Coordinator at the University of Richmond (2002-2003), Murray State University (1992), and Temple University (1988), and as an assistant coach at the University of Massachusetts (1991), the University of Delaware (1988), the University of Pennsylvania (1979-1980) and Pace University (1973 -1974).
